New E-mail

Hey everybody I just wanted to let you know I have a new e-mail address. My old one was unreliable and I found I was getting all my mail in or out. So if you ever tried to contact me and i didn't reply it might have been lost by my mail server. So sorry 'bout that.
Anyway new e-mail is:
custompapertoys@gmail.com
Also I've got the first draft of my book "Urban Paper" done. It's been more work than I could ever had imagined but it's gonna be sweet! Anyway I'm cleaning up a few commissions this week and will begin work on another free toy for this site next week. So stay tuned for a new papertoy in a couple of weeks!
It's been a while and I'm super excited about getting back to my own stuff.
Oh and also I'll be updating this site to an actual website with direct downloads. I'll still do the blog but it will be in a website. A little more user friendly:) If you have anything you'd like to see in the new site let me know I'll probably start work in mid-August.

Mix and Match Papertoys

Collect all 4 for some mix and match fun!
A paper project i made for C3 this week.
The arms, legs, ears, tails and hats all have the same size tabs so they can be put in any slot and the heads are also interchangeable.
They will be available at Papa Gino's pizza franchises in the New England are the latter part of this year and at Tacotime restaurants early 2009 and I'm sure they will be used again for other clients. I'll post again when I know exact dates.

Some recent paper engineering and book update.

Holy cow! It's been a long time since I've posted something on this blog. I've been super busy the last couple months working on the papertoy book and some super cool freelance projects that I can't let out of the bag yet.
The book is getting closer to done all the time. I think the marketing folks decided on "Urban Paper" for the title I really wanted to call it "Cut Fold Glue: the papertoy revolution" oh well ya can't win 'em all. The pic above is of Oliver Ollie my papertoy that will be in the book. The release date is late March 2009! Yikes! That's a long time to weight but I'll be glad when all the work is done.
Here is some recent Paper Engineering I've done at my day job at C3.
The Super Man is a paper bobble head. The fire engine ladder swivels and extends. These are all diecut toys with glueless construction. You'll find these in kiddie meals at your favorite fast food places soon.
Also Comic Monkey is sold out so I'll get on Comic Monkey #2 here in the next couple months.
More soon...

S.P.A.C.E.,Comic Monkey and Paper Toy of the Month update.

The Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo last weekend was a big success. It was the first time I'd brought out my papertoy stuff out and sat at a table behind it. It was so much fun getting to meet a lot of you in person and talk with folks about my work. I'll definitely take the Custom Paper Toy show on the road again soon.

Comic Monkey went over real well and the few I have left are now available at The Custom Paper Toy Company. Just $4 bucks plus 1$ for shipping and handling.

I was unable to get a free papertoy up this month with all the stuff I got going on at the moment, the papertoy book, conventions, some incredible freelance jobs, the band, day job, and the kids. I'm still dedicated to providing fun and free paper toys on this site, but I'm no longer going to be able to stick to the once a month schedule. Instead I'll post free toys randomly when i have a few moments to sneak one in.
Some real amazing things are happening for me and my work and I sincerely thank you all for your encouragement and support!
Thanks folks, more soon.

Jumpin' Jack Paper Toy of The Month for February.

Here is Jumpin' Jack! He's a mash-up of my most downloaded paper toys the Tri-bunnies and the Jumping Paper Frog I did for issue 5 of Craft Magazine. He jumps using the power of a paper clip.
Print this one on regular paper instead of card stock or matte photo paper, so he's lighter.
This is for all you who can't get your hands on issue 5 of Craft magazine.
Download here.

C3 Biz Card Holder

Here is a business card holder I designed for our department at work. His body opens up and holds more cards w/ a die cut window for our icon to show. His helmet is made from an overhead projector acetate sheet. I've been having lots of fun lately including different materials and stuff into my paper toys. This is the kind of thing I hope to have in my shop in the next couple months.

Rudy + cheap wind up toy

This is a "Secret Santa" gift for a guy at my work. (Think he'll know it's me?)
It's the Rockin' Rudy paper toy glued on top of a cheap old wind up toy.
It moves even more than I thought it would. Makes me want to design some wind up toys.

Rockin' Rudy the Paper Toy of the Month for December

Here he is Rockin' Rudy. Not only does Rudolf head Santa's sleigh he is also the front man of the Indie rock band "Like a Lightbulb". He loves to shake his antlers to the music.
I've had this idea for a paper bobble head for a while I finally got round to using it.
You can download Rudy here.
Hope everybody has some happy jolly days!
